Job Description: Electrician Apprentice

The Electrician Apprentice is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing conduit, receptacles, switches, light fixtures and fuse boxes consistent with Employer and Client specifications and National Electrical Codes.  The Apprentice must take work direct from a licensed electrician, or other assigned personnel.  The Apprentice is also responsible for loading, unloading, and transporting equipment, supplies and tools to and from the job site and vehicles, and is required to clean up the work area or project site at the completion of each job.  Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist electricians with disassembling defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit
  • Drill holes for wiring and pull/push wiring through opening
  • Trace out short circuits on wiring
  • Lift, position, and fasten objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order
  • Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment
  • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
  • Perform other routine duties required to install electrical systems or as directed by managment

Skills & Requirements:

  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Solid electrical aptitude and mathematical abilities appropriate to the position
  • Experience in operating forklifts and other powered equipment 
  • Maintains a safe and effective work area/environment and uses appropriate personal protective and safety equipment
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes
  • COVID-19/Social Distancing awareness is critical
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required
  • May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary 

Required Experience and/or Education:  

  • Hight school diploma or GED
  • Currently an Electrician Trainee, enrolled or working on enrollment in an approved Electrician Trainee program (in accordance with the applicable state regulations)
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, basic circuits, branch circuits and specialty systems
  • Knowledge of magnetic induction, three-phase transformers, conductors or wiring methods
  • The ability to read and understand electrical single line blueprints
  • Familiar with aspects of operations, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment and how to safely use them

Job Description: Electrician Helper

Electrician helpers must have a minimal amount of experience (at least one year) in the electrical field or related area.  Individuals should possess basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.  They must also be able to read and interpret instructions and documentation.  They rely heavily on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job, and they work under immediate supervision.  Their level of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on experience and assigned job task.  Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Install and repair electrical equipment and light fixtures
  • Run and bend conduit
  • Trouble shoot wiring issues and repair
  • Be on time and ready to work
  • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes

 

Skills & Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in electrical field – at least one year
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and blueprints
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Fork and Scissor Lift certification or be willing to be trained
  • Maintains a safe and effective work area/environment and uses appropriate personal protective and safety equipment
  • COVID-19/Social Distancing awareness is critical
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required
  • May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s)and additional hours as necessary

 

Required Experience and/or Education:

  • High School diploma
  • One year of trade schooling in electrical systems
