Job Description:  Mechanical Controls Engineer

We are looking for an accountable Mechanical Controls Engineer to be responsible for interfacing with engineering and technical aspects of industrial engineering projects.

Salary Pay Range: $91,000 – $100,000 annually

100% Travel

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and detail machines and/or machine parts
  • Create/update complete models of mechanical components and custom parts
  • Assist in the preparation of machine operator manuals
  • Maintain and update engineering database as needed
  • Provide technical training as required
  • Ensure updates of existing designs and Bill of Material (BOM) for the department
  • Develop specifications and methods of designs
  • Confirm machine and system capabilities by performing feasibility testing
  • Understanding the customers’ expectations, limitations, design challenges and assignment
  • Calculate design factors to ensure the design is feasible, manufacturable, and optimized
  • Troubleshoot and understand problems with manufacturing equipment for redesign
  • Build a prototype of the intended creation, for testing and approval
  • Align the scope of the project with an accurate materials list and specifications
  • Work with customers and their representatives with professionalism
  • Meet deadlines, on time and under budget
  • Coordinate directly with other engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices
  • Must work quickly, productively, and safely without error to meet the goals set by management
  • Ability to develop structural (i.e., layouts, plans, elevations, sections & details) drawings within many aspects of manufacturing, including conveyors, cranes, storage facilities, etc.
  • Ability to understand company and customer standards
  • Occasional travel to company and/or customer sites to collect design information
  • Perform other duties assigned from time to time by management team
  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
  • Read, interpret and execute contents of electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

Requirements and skills:

  • Proven working experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations in Solidworks
  • Use of PC and application software, including CAD
  • Use of technician tools, including meters, power tools, panel punches
  • 1-3 years of experience with high-speed machines or other automated equipment in an industrial environment 
  • Knowledge of industrial controls devices including photo-electric sensors, proximity switches, solenoid valves, frequency and servo drives, and PLC I/O. 
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
  • Superior safety practices and knowledge
  • Time management and organization skills

Required Education:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field preferred
