An innovative, creative, and confident machine designer with 15+ years’ experience with machine design, applying new technology to proto-type design ideas, upgrading machines, or upcycling old technology to new life. A strong understanding of integrating state-of-the-art equipment into new machine designs for optimum creative manufacturing solutions.
The candidate enjoys analytical challenges, working creatively on interesting or challenging projects by designing machines using their engineering expertise for unique situations for optimal performance. Direct customer interaction and occasional customer visits for objective collaboration. The ability to articulate design reviews using SolidWorks, as well as a good temperament in making design changes to meet the customers’ goals.
Pay is up to $115k
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Creating, developing, and documenting designs required to assemble and manufacture the products of the organization. Will work closely with sales and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements while minimizing manufacturing costs.
- Design mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic motion systems.
- Design castings, stampings, machine components, structural framework, conduit, tubing, sheet metal housings, etc.
- Support fabrication department, test prototypes, make design changes, and evaluate finished product against design.
- Prepare product designs including 3D models, drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing and sales to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Perform cost analyses of product components.
- Work with other groups, suppliers, and customers both external and internal to determine product specifications and arranging equipment, evaluate products according to quality standards and specifications.
- 20% travel to customer sites.
- Perform other duties assigned from time to time by the management team.
Requirements and skills:
- Proven working experience as a Machine Designer Mechanical Engineer
- 15+ years’ experience in designing machines/equipment preferred.
- Use of PC and application software, including SolidWorks and 3D modeling.
- Ability to apply and comprehend mechanical engineering math and principals.
- Understanding of mechanical systems, mechanisms, rotational & sliding bearings, material selection, statics, structures, manufacturing processes, fabrication, assembly, fastener free technology.
- Ability to manage assigned design projects from concept to successful installation.
- Superior safety practices and knowledge.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Examples of design projects, description of equipment is desired.

Required Education:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field preferred
