We are looking for an accountable hands on Fabrication Foreman experienced in welding, fabrication and assembling designs along with interfacing with engineering and technical aspects of industrial projects.
Job Summary
The Fabrication Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of welding, fabrication and assembly team members. This is a hands-on role and involves ensuring that all welding fabrication and assembly tasks are completed in accordance with drawing(s), specification(s), industry standards, focused on safely completing projects at the highest quality within the defined timeframe. The Foreman is also responsible for maintaining safety standards, training employees, team member planning, production planning and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision and Leadership: o Lead and supervise a team of welders, fabricators, and apprentices, providing guidance, support, and direction on daily tasks.
- Assign tasks based on project requirements, team skills, and deadlines.
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies.
- Welding and Fabrication Oversight: o Oversee the fabrication and welding of steel, and other metals according to drawings, specifications and industry standards.
- Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications, adjusting as needed.
- Assist with complex welding and fabrication tasks as necessary, serving as a hands-on leader.
- Project Management: o Plan and coordinate daily work schedules, ensuring that production goals are met.
- Monitor project progress, track material usage, and ensure that projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Communicate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.
- Quality Control: o Conduct regular inspections of completed work to ensure adherence to specifications, quality standards, and industry codes.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes, including regular checks on welding integrity, product dimensions, assembly quality including product finishing.
- Training and Development: o Train and mentor new employees and apprentices in welding techniques, safety practices, and company procedures.
- Evaluate the performance of team members on a timely basis, providing feedback, coaching, and additional training as needed.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Safety Management: o Enforce strict adherence to all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Focusing on daily 5s activity with daily improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Ensure the equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
- Coordinate the repair and servicing of tools and machinery as needed, minimizing downtime and production delays.
- Keep inventory of welding materials, supplies, and tools, ordering replacements as necessary.

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) is preferred.
- Additional technical training or certification in welding, fabrication, or supervision is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in welding and fabrication, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Experience with various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, welding symbols and industry standards.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Proficiency in the use of fabrication equipment including saw, shear, brake press and finishing equipment.
- Proficiency in using CAD / 3D models to review, measure and dissect complex assemblies
- Proficiency in using electronic organization methods to store, retrieve and use CAD models
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working Conditions
- Environment: This role involves working in a fabrication shop with exposure to noise, heat, and hazardous materials.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
